Everything you need to know about debating on SparWith.
SparWith is a live debate platform with AI-powered fact-checking, ELO rankings, and a practice mode where you can spar against AI opponents. Every claim you make is verified in real-time, every argument is scored, and your rank reflects your skill as a debater.
You have three options: Quick Match pairs you with a random opponent on a trending topic within seconds. Create Debate lets you pick your own topic and wait for a challenger. Practice vs AI puts you against a skilled AI opponent so you can sharpen your arguments without pressure.
Yes. The free tier gives you unlimited debates with 3 fact-check challenges per debate. Premium is available at $9.99/month and unlocks 5 challenges per debate, AI Analyst mode, priority matchmaking, coaching reports, and custom themes.
Every debate has three phases. Opening Statements are submitted simultaneously so neither side can react to the other. Free Debate is a back-and-forth exchange where you make arguments, counter-arguments, and challenge claims. Closing Statements are again submitted simultaneously. Each phase is timed based on the format you choose.
Quick debates run for 5 minutes total and are great for fast exchanges. Standard debates last 15 minutes and allow deeper exploration of topics. Extended debates go for 30 minutes and are suited for complex, multi-faceted topics. All formats include opening, free debate, and closing phases.
Not yet, but real-time translation features are coming soon. When launched, you will be able to debate anyone in the world and see their arguments translated into your language instantly.
Every message you send is automatically analyzed by our AI system. It extracts verifiable claims and cross-references them against academic papers, official statistics, and reputable news sources. Results appear as badges next to claims: VERIFIED (green) means the claim is supported by evidence, DISPUTED (red) means evidence contradicts the claim, and UNVERIFIED (yellow) means insufficient evidence was found.
A fact-check challenge triggers a deep verification on a specific claim your opponent made. Free users get 3 per debate, Premium users get 5. Use them strategically on claims that seem dubious. The deep-check runs a more thorough analysis and presents detailed evidence with sources.
No. AI fact-checking is a tool, not a judge. It provides evidence and sources to support its assessment, but it can make mistakes. Debaters and spectators make the final call on who wins. Think of the AI as a research assistant, not an authority.
ELO is a rating system originally developed for chess and now used across competitive gaming and esports. You start at 1000 (Silver tier). Winning debates earns you ELO points and losing drops your rating. The amount gained or lost depends on your opponent's rating: beating a higher-rated opponent earns more points.
The winner is determined by a composite score. When spectators are present: 40% comes from peer scoring (you and your opponent rate each other), 35% from AI analysis of argument quality, and 25% from spectator votes. When no spectators are watching, it shifts to 55% peer scoring and 45% AI analysis.
There are seven tiers. Bronze (0-999) is the starting range. Silver (1000-1399) is where most debaters land after some practice. Gold (1400-1799) marks strong debaters. Platinum (1800-2099) is for advanced competitors. Diamond (2100-2399) is elite territory. Master (2400+) is reserved for exceptional debaters. Grandmaster is a special tier for the top 100 players globally.
Premium unlocks an ad-free experience, AI Analyst mode (get real-time coaching suggestions during debates), 5 fact-check challenges per debate instead of 3, priority matchmaking for faster opponent pairing, post-debate coaching reports with detailed feedback, and custom themes to personalize your debate interface.
